Fun Events!

It has been a while since I last posted. On Valentine's Day I had my first ultrasound. It was pretty exciting for Alex and me. We were a little disappointed to find out that I wasn't as far along as the doctor thought, but other than that everything was great. My due date is October 3. It was definitely reassuring to see the little heart beating. Since it is so small, it is hard to know if everything is okay. So, basically we saw a little jelly bean with a beating heart. The radiology guy said that everything looked normal, so that was definitely a relief. My next appointment with my doctor is March 3. We will likely get to hear the heart beat at that appointment. We are definitely excited to have this little addition to our family. I just wish we didn't have to wait so long!
We have had a few other fun events that last couple of weeks. February 9th was our niece Macee's 2nd birthday. There were way too many people, but it was fun. Macee is such an adorable baby! We love her.
Last weekend we got to spend the day with my little sister Kaitlin and then watched my sister Kellsi play volleyball. It was a fun day with my family.

Baby on the way!

Well, Alex and I are so excited to announce that we are going to have a baby this fall! I found out a couple of weeks ago and it has been so hard not to tell anyone. We went to the Dr. on Monday and found out that I am about 9 weeks along meaning I am due the first or second week of September. I have an ultrasound next Thursday that will hopefully be able to give me a more exact date. I am very lucky to feel so great. I really haven't felt sick; I am just tired all of the time!
Tuesday, we told everyone the exciting news. It was such a fun day. To tell our parents we made a movie poster that said: Coming this fall to a home near you. . . A baby's life. produced by Alex and Mariah Matesen. The poster had the bug's life picture, but said baby's life instead. Then I had popcorn, candy, pop, and a cute hollywood clapboard. We left these on the counter in our parents kitchens. Everyone was so excited! My parents screamed and clapped. Alex's parents both cried. It is such a blessing to have such amazing families who are so supportive of us. I also got to spend some time with two of my favorite people in the world (Mandee and McKel) and they gave me a lot of advice (since between the two of them they have three kids). Overall it was a fantastic day! Fun!Fun!Fun!

Introduction

Well, I have decided to join the blogging world. I am terrible at journaling, so I am going to try blogging instead. My life isn't all that exciting, but in reality this blog is more for me than for you (the reader-sorry!). Just so you know who you are reading about, I will introduce us! I'm Mariah and I married Alex Matesen December 26, 2003. I graduated from the University of Utah in May 2005 and I work at LDS Hospital as a nurse on the Bone Marrow Transplant unit. Alex works as an electronic technician at Moog Aircraft and is also working on an electronic engineering degree. We bought a house in Layton about seven months ago and are really loving it. I guess those are the main points. More will follow soon!
