I Love NY!

For the last couple of weeks Alex has been working in New York. I got to spend 6 days there with him and we had so much fun! It was definitely not long enough, but we still had a fun time. One night we went to Niagara Falls. It was really amazing! It was so loud and because of all the mist it felt like it was raining all the time.

For the weekend we drove down to New York City. It was amazing! I loved it! I just wish we had more time- I guess I will just have to go back sometime! While we were there we took a double decker bus tour. It went all over the city and we could get on and off whenever we wanted to. We saw just about everything, but we didn't have much time to explore. We also went to the top of the Empire State Building. We went at night and the city looked so wonderful!

On Sunday we went to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It was really amazing. It would have been so neat to be an immigrant coming to the U.S. and seeing the statue. It is really an amazing symbol of our country. Ellis Island was also fun. There were several stations with individual stories. It was humbling to read these stories and to see how much people sacrificed to live in this country. Our entire trip was so much fun and I can't wait to go back!

I must say that I have the best dad in the world! This last week he came and painted my nursery. It turned out so cute! I absolutely love it! Also, it was so much fun to spend two entire days just with my dad. He is leaving to Iraq this Wednesday, so I am so grateful for the chance to spend time with him before he leaves.

Because I knew that he was leaving so soon, I told him that it would be okay if he didn't paint the room. But, my dad said that he had to paint his grandson's room. My little baby is so lucky to have a grandpa who already loves him so much!

Since I am writing this on Mother's day I will also give a tribute to my mom. I am so lucky to have a mom who is honestly my best friend. We talk almost everyday. She is such an amazing example to me of sacrifice and service and I am truly blessed to have her example to follow.
