Baby Steps

So, after I had Jackson I decided to get back into running. My ultimate goal is to run a half marathon by this fall. So, I ran in my first race today-the Salt Lake 5K. It is in conjunction with the Salt Lake Marathon. It was actually much more fun than I expected. I thought it would just be like running every day, but it was more exciting for some reason. I certainly wasn't running to win-just to finish. I was kind of proud of myself :). I just need to keep going so I can reach my goal! Wish me luck!

Tulip Festival

This afternoon Jackson and I met my mom, Kellsi, and Kaitlin at Thanksgiving Point for the Tulip Festival. We had a lovely time. It was really warm (although the wind was blowing) and the gardens are so beautiful. It wasn't the best day to go because the tulips weren't fully bloomed and neither were the other flowers, but it was still fun. We had a picnic and then just walked around for a while. Thanks mom and sisters for a fun day!

We had a wonderful Easter as always even though the weather didn't cooperate! We headed down to Delta late Friday night. We didn't make the egg hunt on Saturday morning (because Jackson is obviously too young :), but next year we will be there! After the egg hunt we visited at my grandma's for a while and then headed out to the Great Stone Face for our annual picnic. The weather was terrible! It was windy, rainy, and cold, but we stuck it out and still had fun. I hiked with my mom and sisters and then enjoyed a great lunch. Then, because I was too cold I sat in my mom's car with my sisters and listened to music and laughed a lot! Sadly, I forgot my camera, so no pictures :(.
Our normal end to the day is a softball game, but due to the weather we went to the church and played volleyball instead. I got there really late because Jackson was taking a nap, but it was fun nonetheless. That night we planned on playing games, but Alex got sick and so we just went to bed.
Sunday morning Alex stayed in bed because he still had a fever and felt terrible. But, Jackson and I got up and ready and went to see my family. Then we went to church with my grandparents. It was a great fast and testimony meeting. My grandma shared her testimony and it was wonderful. She is such a strong, intelligent, amazing woman and it was a great opportunity for me to hear her testimony.
After church we had some tasty dinner made by my mom and then headed home. We stopped at Alex's parents' house and visited for a while.
We had a great weekend (well, maybe Alex didn't as much because he was sick) and are so grateful for this time of year to really focus on the resurrection of our Savior.

SUNSHINE!

So, instead of sleeping (because I worked last night) or cleaning my house I decided to enjoy this small sliver of beautiful spring! Jackson and I took a walk to the park. Then we played on the grass and enjoyed the warmth and a popsicle. Jackson surprisingly loved sitting in the grass and I had to keep stopping him from eating it! He loved the popsicle we shared and he was so cute sticking his tongue out for a taste. It was so rejuvenating to be in the sun and the warmth! It doesn't get much better than a Utah spring day (too bad they are few and far between!).
