Jackson Update

I thought I should do a quick update on my favorite big boy! Jackson is almost 3 1/2. I can't believe he is getting so big. He is honestly the best little boy. I am definitely spoiled. He is so well behaved most of the time and is just so much fun to be around. He likes to be funny and is constantly making me laugh. He talks non-stop (maybe he learned that from me :) and is so smart. I am always shocked by the things he just picks up and how quickly he learns things. He is in Sunbeams and loves it! He was nervous the first day, but since then has loved Primary. He even won the reverence sucker one week and was so excited about it! Jackson is really social. Wherever we go he makes a friend. He loves to play and be active, but also likes to play video games and watch movies. He is the best big brother. He absolutely adores Gavin. He plays with him all day long and is always wanting to hold him and love him. He is very loving and tells me all day that he loves me. I am so thankful for my cute Jackson. I love him to pieces!

Red Rocks!

Last weekend we joined Brandon and Carrie and their kids at the University of Utah gymnastics meet. The tickets were free which was definitely a bonus! We had a great time! I wasn't sure if Jackson would be bored, but he loved it! He loves playing with Milly and then he really liked watching the gymnasts. At one point Milly was trying to play with him and he said, "Just a minute Milly. I am trying to watch those girls down there!" I am happy he had fun because I love going to the meets. I am so happy we could make it to one since I usually work Fridays. It was definitely a great night!

Gavin's Two Month Check-Up (a month late!)

Current Stats:
Weight: 14 pounds 8 ounces (95th percentile)
Length: 24 1/4 inches (85th percentile)
Head: 50th percentile (I can't remember the actual measurement!)

I am so behind updating on my baby Gavin! He is almost three months old! He is getting so big! At his two week appointment he weighed 9 pounds 11 ounces. He is definitely not a small baby! He is a chunk and I love it! He is still a happy little baby. He is teething though and I think that is cruel and unusual punishment for such a young baby! I hope they come through soon so he won't be in pain anymore. Other than the teething he is happy. I am going to just make a list like I used to do for Jackson!
 *He laughs a lot! He makes you work for it, but I can usually get some laughs a couple of times a day!
 *He smiles all the time!
 *He loves Jackson! When Jackson is around he is always watching him
 *He loves to eat! He is a really good nurser and eats every 2 to 3 hours still
 *He is a pretty good sleeper. He doesn't sleep through the night every night, but most nights he does.
 *He sucks on his hands a lot
 *He rolled over for the first time a week ago! He can go from his belly to his back and has done it quite a few times
 *He is really strong and sits in his bumbo pretty well
 *He loves his reflection in the mirror-he just grins and grins at himself :)
 *He jabbers a lot! It is pretty loud and he has a lot to say
 *He likes to stand up
 * He quit taking his binky, but recently started liking it again
 * He sleeps in his crib in his own room. He has done this since only a few days old. He would NOT sleep in my room so I put him in his and we have both been happier!
I suppose that is a good enough list! He is such a great addition to our family and we love him so much!

He loves bath time! But, now I just throw him in with Jackson. Much easier and him and Jackson love it!

I bought this suit for Jackson as a baby. I was so excited Gavin could wear it. Isn't it the funniest thing?!

Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day is so much fun! I love planning little things to make the people in my life feel special. At the end of January Jackson and I decorated mailboxes. Then, each day until Valentine's Day the Luvbug left special presents in them! Some of the gifts Jackson got were robot valentine paper, valentine pencils, valentine stickers, candy, a nerf gun, and a valentine book. Alex also got little gifts. I also typed a favorite memory I have with him. So, each day he got a treat and a memory. It was a lot of fun!

I had to work the night before Valentine's Day and then we wouldn't be home Valentine's night. So, Jackson and I got his Valentines ready for his friends and Alex took him around to drop them off while I was at work. Alex said Jackson loved giving his treats to his friends and was disappointed when they were done!

On actual Valentine's Day we took our boys to dinner. We ate at the Spaghetti Factory. It was delish and Jackson always likes going out to eat! That night Chris and Sally watched the boys so Alex and I could go to the Lady Antebellum concert! It was such a great concert! Thompson Square opened and they were okay. Second up was Darius Rucker. I wasn't all that excited about him, but he was amazing! He was such a great performer and has lots of great songs. He even played some of his Hootie and the Blowfish songs so that was fun as well. Lady A was fantastic! They sang all of their great songs. Right after the concert started I told Alex they probably wouldn't play one of my favorite songs- Perfect Day, because it wasn't on the radio. Well, a couple songs later they played it! I was so happy! It was definitely the perfect Valentine's date!

Since I had to work the night before Valentines and then we went to the concert I had to wait until Thursday to take Jackson and Gavin on a date. We were going to go to a movie, but there weren't any good kid movies out. So, we just went to Subway for lunch (Jackson's pick). I know a lot of people think Valentine's is lame (I used to), but I think it is a fun excuse to do something fun and thoughtful! We had a great Valentine's this year!

Gavin's Blessing

We blessed Gavin on February 4th. It was a great day! I was so nervous when Jackson got blessed and this time I was much more relaxed and able to enjoy the day. Our ward was at 9am so we appreciated everyone who woke up and came so early! Alex gave such a wonderful blessing. He takes blessings seriously and really prepares to give them. It was really special and the spirit was so strong. Testimony that day was really great also. So many people shared their testimonies and it was just a great day.
After church we had breakfast at our house. We had breakfast casseroles (which were delicious!), donuts, muffins, fruit, yogurt, juice, and toast. Everything was yummy! Both of our families were there as well as most of our close friends. It was definitely a special day and we just felt so grateful to have Gavin in our family!

LSU Party

We were so excited LSU was in the BCS Championship! My dad decided to have a party. My Aunt Connie from Louisiana sent all sorts of things for the party. Although LSU lost we still had a great time! We had delicious jambalaya, gumbo, cupcakes, chip dips, candy and more! We had everyone guess the score for each quarter and had prizes for the winners. We also had trivia questions and prizes during commercial breaks. Jackson had so much fun with the other kids. It was a great party!
