I was lucky enough to go on a quick trip to Seattle! I absolutely LOVE Seattle-it is such an amazing city. And, all of my wonderful family who lives there are wonderful hosts and tour guides:)
My mom, Kaitlin, and Samantha picked me up at 11:30 on Wednesday night. Sam and Kate had softball games so we had to leave really late. My mom drove until about 6:30 and then I drove from 7 until we made it to Bothell at about noon. The drive was pretty uneventful. Once we got to my Aunt Chris's home we showered, got ready and headed into Seattle. Our first stop was mini donuts at the market! They are really delicious and I should have bought a dozen for myself :) Then we watched the fish guys for a bit and did some shopping while eating some fresh fruit along the way. After shopping we stopped for some lunch. When I went to Seattle about four years ago I had the best panini sandwich ever. I knew about where the place was, but I had no idea if it was still there or even what it was called. So, we went on a hunt and I found the place! I even convinced my mom to get one (she doesn't like trying new foods:) and she loved it too! It was just as delicious as I remembered. I still don't know the name, but I am pretty sure I will be able to find it again someday! It was a hot day and we wanted to eat in the shade. We found some trees and were sitting with an interesting mix of people. I will just say that I am glad we were sitting there in the day rather than at night.
After eating lunch we headed down to the Curiosity Shop. Kaitlin had never been and she loved it! They have the craziest things there! After shopping I dropped everyone off at the baseball field. They met Aunt Chris for the game (Mariners vs. Yankees) and had a great time. Sam LOVES the Yankees and has never seen them in person. She was in heaven :) While they were at the game I spent the evening with my cousin Peggy and her sons Isaac and Cardon. I had a great time! Peggy bought me some yummy chinese food and then we went to a park on Lake Washington. It was a beautiful night. We just talked and talked. It was good to catch up!
Friday we got up early and headed for Sequim. We had to wait for the ferry so while we were waiting we explored the beach. There were starfish, sea anemones, crabs, and other sealife all over! It was really fun! We finally made it on the ferry and headed for Sequim.
Once in Sequim we loaded back up and went to Forks. It was kind of a long drive, but it was absolutely gorgeous! We drove around Cresent Lake and I just couldn't take my eyes off of the water-it was so clear and blue! We made it to Forks and spent about an hour there. Kellsi watched Jackson so I could go on a trip and I promised I would get her a hoodie from Forks so I did! Forks was a really cute town and it is fun to see how much they get into the Twilight theme. After Forks we went to the ocean at Rialto Beach. It was amazing! Nothing is like the ocean. While we were playing on the beach we spotted a whale. He was far off, but was jumping and rolling around. We watched him for a long time :) We then roasted hot dogs and had a yummy picnic before heading back to my cousin Lara's house (back in Sequim).
The next morning we went to something known as the Spit. It is a five mile long stretch of beach that has water on both sides. It is really narrow and it is weird that the water doesn't just wash it away. It was a very pretty short hike down to the beach. After the Spit we loaded back up and headed back to Seattle.
Once in Seattle we had dinner at Red Robin and then went to the Mariner/Yankee game. Aunt Chris had 8 tickets but, they weren't all together. So, I sat with Sam, Kate, and my mom. Then, half way through my mom and Peggy switched spots. It was so much fun, except that the Yankees lost :( But, the Mariners got a Grand Slam so that was pretty exciting. The ride home after the game was hilarious. We kept going the wrong way, then almost ran out of gas. My stomach hurt from laughing so hard!
Sunday morning Uncle Royal and Aunt Chris made a delicious breakfast of blueberry pancakes, bacon, and fruit salad. We visited for a little bit and then hit the road.
It was such a great trip! It was a jam-packed four days. We are so lucky that Aunt Chris and Uncle Royal love having guests! They make any trip so much fun! So, thanks to them and to my mom for taking me!
