Beach Bum

We had a fabulous Memorial Day Weekend! Saturday we had family pictures taken. It was so much fun and they are so cute (you can preview them here)! That night we went out to dinner. We ate at Spaghetti Factory and little Mr. Jackson impressed us with his straw sipping skills! We have tried to get him to drink from a straw before, but this was the first time he really seemed to get it. Then, all weekend he sipped water through a straw-he is getting too big!
Anyway, continuing on, Sunday night we went with my family to stay at my grandparents' house in Hinckley. The Killpacks' came over and we played cards and had delicious brownies and ice cream. It was a lot of fun even if I was the LOSER in Rook!
Monday we headed out to the Res. It was a perfect day for laying on the beach! The water was a little too cold for me to want to jump in, but I did take a fun ride on the boat. Jackson loved the Res. He kept trying to eat the sand and didn't appreciate me stopping him! Alex strapped him onto the kneeboard and let him float in the water and he loved it! We had the best time-thanks for inviting us Killpacks!

Oh and p.s. Jackson's fourth tooth is in. So, we now have two top and two bottom teeth!

A few things. . .

A few blog worthy things have happened, so here is a quick rundown!

*Jackson's third tooth broke through on Monday.

*Jackson is now an official crawler (I am working on getting a video, but he isn't cooperating very well :)

*Max, the cute old man we lived under while I was in school, passed away on Sunday.

*Alex got offered a new position at his work, which he will be starting in a few weeks.

*My dad will be home from Iraq in two weeks from today!

Randomness

So, yes I have been a bad blogger lately! Last night as I was reading other blogs Alex said (mockingly), "How come this person hasn't updated in forever? I hate when people don't update!" He thought he was so funny. I obviously had said that and I haven't updated in a month, so yes my hubby was mocking me. So, here is my update!

The first week of May Jackson and I took a little trip to Nephi. We went to the park with Mandee and Jayden and had a picnic. It was a gorgeous day and we stayed at the park for a long time! I pushed Jackson in the swings for the first time and he loved it! I turned a nice shade of lobster red from the extended sun exposure, but it was well worth it (don't worry, Jackson had sunscreen on)! The next day I got my hair done which is always a treat, then we went to Jayden's second birthday party. It was fun to see so many people who I love! The Jones' are basically my second family and I love them all! The rest of the trip was spent relaxing and having fun with my mom and sisters.

Last weekend my mom, cousin Erin, and I ran in the Race for the Cure. It was really amazing! It is impossible to describe just how many people were there! You had to see it to believe it! It was a really fun race for an amazing cause. My mom and I ran in celebration of her friend Shelly. It made me really emotional to read the signs on peoples backs. We had such a great time that we decided that we are going to make this a yearly tradition. (on a side note-I ran this 5K 2 minutes 20 seconds faster than my last 5K!YAY! I am still training for my next race which is a 10K in June.)

Then, this Sunday was my first official Mother's Day! Last year Alex got me a gift and a card because I was pregnant, but this year I really am a mom! I actually bought myself a video camera and told Alex that that could count as my Mother's day gift. But, he also surprised me with a card and a gift card to Coldstone(my fav!). Jackson also made me a card (obviously with help from his dad). It was a good day and I am just so thankful for the opportunity I have to be a mom to my baby boy! It is a lot of work, but I love being a mom! I also have the best mom and Grandma in the world so Happy Mother's Day to them!



Alex finished spring semester a couple of weeks ago and we have just been enjoying some free time together. Monday we took Jackson to the Layton Park and had the best time! I had never been there and it is so pretty. There is a little stream with geese, ducks, and a swan! Surprisingly Jackson loved watching the birds. It was so cute! We have also been catching up on some good movies we missed in theaters. If you haven't seen The Curious Case of Benjamin Button or Australia yet, then go get them! They are excellent movies and we highly recommend them!





As for baby Jackson-he is just growing, growing, growing! He is getting so big! He is seven months old and I am not sure where time has gone! He scoots on his bum all over (he's not quite crawling yet), can go from laying down to sitting up, and loves eating anything I give him! He has gotten really good at pulling himself up so we finally had to lower his crib so he didn't fall out! His top two teeth are trying to poke through-I wish they would so they didn't hurt him anymore. I had a little scare last week because Jackson got sick for the first time. He had a fever of 102, couldn't keep anything down, and had a really bad cough. I had to work so Alex took him to the doctor. He is finally feeling better, but I hated seeing my little man so sick!


My Aunt Bobbie and Erin fed Jackson an Oreo while my mom and I went to get our race packets. As you can see he thorougly enjoyed it :)
