My Sick Little Boy :(

Jackson has been really sick all week! It started Sunday while we were in Pioche, Nevada (another post for another time:). He was really cranky, had a cough, and started to wheeze. We were in the middle of nowhere, but luckily Alex's cousin had some baby albuterol (her baby is the exact same age as Jackson) so we used that for the night. He didn't sleep that whole night so we left early in the morning for Nephi. He was still wheezing so I called his pediatrician and she called in a prescription for albuterol to the Nephi pharmacy. This completely stopped the wheezing and he seemed to be doing much better-he even took a good nap. Well, later that evening he felt really warm (we didn't have a thermometer with us). After two doses of tylenol and one of ibuprofen he was still just burning up. I called the on-call doc at Jackson's pediatric clinic. It happened to be his doc and she said she would like to see him the next day. I took him in and his temp was 102, but on exam he didn't have any obvious signs of infection. She told me to watch him and to keep up with the tylenol and ibuprofen around the clock. He was so sick that night and didn't sleep much at all. By the next morning his temperature was 104.6! His doc called to check on him and although she wasn't comfortable with such a high temp she said to just keep watching. He seemed to do a little better that afternoon and his temp ranged from 99 to 102, but mostly on the lower end. Again that night he didn't sleep well and woke up with a temp of 104.7. He seemed worse on Thursday. He was coughing more and moaning and crying a lot and his fevers didn't come down as much. I finally called his doc again around 4. When she heard how the day had been she asked me to bring Jackson back in. He still checked out okay on exam, but she thought he might be hiding a pneumonia. So, we got a chest x-ray and found that my little man has pneumonia! He has a right middle lobe pneumonia that is apparently pretty big. We started his antibiotic last night so he should be feeling better in the next couple of days.
It has been the worst watching my little boy be so sick. He really hasn't been sick like this-he hasn't even had an ear infection. He has been so lethargic and sad-I hope things look up soon!
I just have to post about Jackson's amazing pediatrician. She is honestly the best! From Tuesday to Thursday she called me to check on Jackson probably 5 or 6 times. She thought his symptoms were acting more like a bacterial than viral infection and even though his lungs sounded okay she took a chance on the chest x-ray and found the problem. I appreciated her being so concerned about my baby. I don't think there are many doctors who would do as much as she did and I am so thankful for her!

Jackson doing what we did all week-watching Cars and snuggling on the couch! This was taken this morning and he is looking much better already!

YUck!!!! Pneumonias are horrible for the little ones. I'm glad he's starting to feel better and that he wasn't hospitalized. I hope you get some rest this weekend.
